Essential oils are not just a pretty smell. They are nature’s wisdom in a bottle.
Why use essential oils?
If you were to choose just one substance for your Earth life raft, this would be it.
Here’s why:
So no matter what you are dealing with in your body and psyche, essential oils have the power to help.
How Essential Oils impact our Psyche
Essential oils are not just pretty smells to pop into the diffuser on a summer’s afternoon. They are powerful substances that directly impact our psyche.
As soon as you smell an essential oil, the aromatic molecules trigger nerve fibres in your nose which send signals to your brain. These nerve signals completely bypass your conscious brain, travelling straight to the limbic region (your subconscious).
This is where we store memories and emotions. It’s also the part of our brain responsible for our spiritual gifts – our intuition and visions, our out of body experiences, and also the ability to see into past lives, auras, Angels and Guides.
By stimulating this part of our brain, essential oils heighten our spiritual senses and help to unlock the memories and emotions that are keeping us locked in unhealthy patterns and which underpin physical dis-ease.
In the footsteps of the Pharaohs
Essential oils have grown in popularity in the past 30 years, yet their unique aromatic magic has woven through so many ancient cultures, with their use dating back more than 5000 years.
No matter the problem, essential oils held a solution. They were not only revered for their beautiful fragrance and aphrodisiac qualities. Essential oils were also used for worship and blessing, as food and beverage flavourings, in health care and spiritual practises – even for fertility and beauty care.
More than 2 decades ago, Egyptian hieroglyphs were discovered that depicted a sacred anointing ritual that the Pharaohs and High Initiates used prior to death, and the Priests and Priestesses used before ascending to the next level of Priesthood. It was called “Cleansing the Flesh and Blood of evil deities”. Today, we would describe those evil deities as our inner demons and emotional wounds that (when unresolved) hold us back from living our best life.
Finding your Totem plants
Every plant has a Spirit. When we use essential oils, we are forming a connection with the Spirit of the plant that gave birth to that particular essential oil. Even if we’re unaware of it, that plant becomes our teacher and totem, and its unique wisdom will begin to guide us and open our consciousness.
The nature of the plant gives us clues to its “spiritual medicine”.
For example, an essential oil from the roots of a grass like Vetiver will anchor us into the earth, in turn helping to still our mind. The essential oil from the rind of an orange will bring brightness and happiness into our life, soothing anxiousness and helping us see the silver lining in any situation. The essential oil from a strong tall tree like Black Spruce will give us inner strength and resilience as we go through life’s challenges. And the essential oil from a delicate flower (think rose, geranium or ylang ylang) will connect us to our softness and feminine nature.
The Frequency of Essential Oils
Essential oils contain hundreds of plant chemicals in perfect balance. We call this the plant’s unique “fingerprint”. Many of these compounds are naturally antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory, so they protect the plant from invasion and disease.
Yet each of these compounds also has a unique frequency. So when we put that essential oil on our body, we’re experiencing both an energetic uplift as well as a physical impact.
Just as we do with food, our body takes the precise compounds and frequencies it needs from the essential oil, and the rest get excreted. So we can give the same essential oil to two different people, and they can have different impacts according to what each person needs.
This is what makes essential oils appear to act with such a God-like intelligence.
Quality matters
When choosing a brand of essential oils, you want one that preserves the complete fingerprint of compounds. This gives you the ultimate potency, and ensures that your essential oil is balanced (as it is in nature).
Unfortunately, that’s extremely difficult to source because almost all modern-day producers follow perfume industry standards when they’re making essential oils. They’re looking to optimise that beautiful smell.
These essential oils will still have some impact on the body, but more by default than by design.
That’s why I only use the brand Young Living Essential Oils.
When I first started using their oils in 1998, I realised they were different to all the other top-quality and practitioner-only brands I had been using. I was having such fast and profound results, much more than I’d ever experienced with other brands. This led me to travel the world, visit the Young Living farms, and study from their founder.
They were a small company in those days, with just a few farms globally. Now they are the largest producer of therapeutic-grade essential oils in the world, with 24 farms and partner farms across 16 countries. They are still family-owned, they uphold the highest standards in their essential oils, and they give back to communities in need.
These values align with my own, so I love supporting this company.
In the words of the late Dr. Wayne Dyer, “Young Living is a company founded on miracles, teaching the world that there’s a better way, through God’s bottles of essential oils.” I couldn’t agree more!
